The original Bridge Inn was a cottage style ,canal side , basic pub situated in what at the time was an heavily industrialized area , it took its name from a nearby canal bridge and stood near what is now the end of the present pubs carpark . The canals and heavy industry have long gone as has the pub , demolished in the late 1960s to make way for housing .
The present pub was built to replace the old one in the early 1970s by Banks , it has had many changes over the years , with several extensions in the 1980s .
The pub as we find it today is a fairly typical estate pub , the interior is now L shaped and divided into 2 seperate areas , the bar has a small servery and a dart board and two pool tables , the lounge has a long bar and feels somewhat like a beefeater/hungry horse type of place in decor .
There are a couple of large TVs showing sport , very quiet on my Saturday evening visit with only a young couple and two middle aged lager drinkers in the lounge and half a dozen likley lads playing pool in the bar , usual keg taps and Banks Bitter and a very average Banks Mild on handpull .
Service was functional rather than friendly .

Large Banks pub used to be two rooms but now knocked into one large L shaped room with distinct bar/lounge areas , new landlord has got cask ales back on though only usual Bankss fare . Improving

Only been in here latish on a saturday night , beer ok but no mild {in a banks pub unheard of } lot of chavs but not to bad an atmosphere .
