The aged floor board front of the Sutherland Arms has a serving counter to the right with seating in the front window and a seating area to the left that was hosting a fiddling folk band during a recent Tuesday evening visit. At the rear is a small carpeted seating area with an iron fireplace that I bet makes it very cosy in here during the winter months. Three hand pumps are supported, two were in use drawing Facer’s Abbey Blonde and Bass, the latter not being my favourite of the day. The service was polite and I enjoyed my visit, although the pub would of only had two customers without the musicians.

Not too bad a place that did serve 2 real ales on this visit but both were standard nationals. Cleaner than some on this stretch.

The Sutherland Arms is a smallish corner pub which is of the type i like going in.
Once inside there was a bare boarded bar to the front, this room was split into two seperate area with a wall dividing them, the bar was in the right side and a darts board in the left, the seating was comfy bench type and small stools, there was a small carpeted lounge to the rear, there was no bar in ths room.
There were three real ales on the bar,i had a drink of Lymestone Stone Cutter, this was a very nice drink, the other beers were Pedigree and a beer called Sir Phillip.
The pub was very busy when i first got here with Stoke fans but started to empty out after 2.30.
I really liked this pub and could have happily spent more time in here if not on a pub crawl.
