Alan Winfield left this review about The Rising Sun
The Rising Sun is a nice looking pub that is in the back streets a short distance from the middle of Hanley.
Once inside there was a smartt looking L shaped room to the front which had a small raised area to the front left, the room was carpeted and had comfy bench seating with leather chairs, there was a seperate room to the rear which had a pool table and normal tables and chairs.
There were two pumps on the bar but both unused,i asked for a drink of keg Banks's mild which the landlord said had also ran out, this left me with the choice of John Smiths smooth crap or lager i opted for the John Smiths smooth crap which lived up to its name.
The pub was empty and far too quiet on my early dinnertime visit.
This is a decent enough pub that would be greatly improved with a real ale on the bar and a bit of music playing.
