The Royal Oak is an attractive brewers Tudor Black Country Ales pub with a few small steps up to the entrance. To the right of the entrance is a room with tartan banquettes that are also found along the front wall and up the left in the green floral wallpapered and wood panelled bar. Towards the rear green banquettes run up the side walls and a dartboard hangs on the rear wall. A small television was airing Sky Sports horse racing, and an angry man was putting his wages into the fruit machine. Eight of the ten hand pumps on the counter were in use drawing BCA’s Pig on the Wall and BFG alongside Sharp’s Atlantic, Mallinson’s Wakatu Mosaic, AJ’s Ales’ Stuck in the Doghouse and three cider options. I generally find BCA pubs to be well kept with a traditional pub vibe, and this one is no different, worth a look.

A small and comfortable BCA pub which had the main L shaped bar and lounge area on the left along with an open fire and a dart board at the rear. There was a quieter smaller lounge on the right, which also had upholstered button back bench seating and the pub was carpeted throughout. Six ales on handpump, four BCA and two guest, I went for the Black Country BFG and Mrs A went for the Salopian Hiding in Plain Sight.
