Nice looking community pub beside the busy A488, but once inside it is all laminate flooring and a grey and blue colour scheme shared between pillars, boxed in RSJs, walls and furniture. Some relief from this was provided by a hand pump offering a 4.5% beer from local Stonehouse brewery. It's a community pub with nine bowls teams, I was told. I enjoyed the chance to relax towards the end of my drive from Sheffield to Bishops Castle - it opens at 6pm on Mondays, so it's lucky I wasn't ahead of schedule.
