Single room open plan pub that was once the Salopian Brewery Tap , the bar is to the right of the entrance and partially obscured by a large pillar , a couple of large TVs showing the football , at the back of the room there are lovely views over the Severn towards the Showground .
3 of the 4 handpulls in use with Wye Valley HPA and 2 from Salopian , Voodoo and a cracking Oracle , service was friendly as were the locals , worth it if in the area .

Yep. I found this pub to be acceptable. Yep. Good views from the beer terrace.

10-15 minutes out of town, up a bit of an incline and does seem for the last couple of minutes like you’re not going to get to a pub at all. Internally it’s not that great, felt slapped around and knocked through with little care. Two dart boards and pool table spotted. However the rear patio terrace has lovely views over the Severn Valley vista, which made for a pleasant 20 minutes. This one is owned by Salopian brewery though oddly only two of their ales were on, plus a guest from Blackwater. However, both Salopian ales were in excellent condition, best beers of the day by a stretch. Service at the bar was a bit perfunctory, could do better there. Hard to sum up; the beer quality was outstanding but it didn’t really feel like the sort of place I’d make the effort to schlep to outside of that. Needs more creature comforts and a better welcome to match the ale.
