The Armory is a long and rectangular high ceiling wooden floored space with wood panelled walls that support a few briming bookcases. There’s lots of open plan seating, enough to accommodate coach loads of tourists, yes there are allotted parking spots for coaches out the front where some café seating is also found. There were three staff behind the serving counter which is found in the centre of the rear wall. One of them was serving the other person at the counter and the other two were talking, for a good minute or so while I stood there like a chump. I suppose it gave me the chance to note that premium keg was available alongside Camden Hells, and I counted eight hand pumps, the London Pride and Butty Bach were off which left Hobsons Twisted Spire and The Champion, Salopian’s Shropshire Gold and Oracle, Brightside Brewing’s Brunning & Price Original Bitter and a cider offering of Lilley’s Mango. I was eventually served a decent pint of Oracle by the only member of staff who seemed to work, the other two must have been management or something. This is the sort of place people on holiday or of a certain age go to relax, so there were lots of older Americans in situ. Not really my cup of tea to be honest so even though a nice spot I think I’ll give it a miss next time.

A big barn this, with a very spacious floor around which forklift trucks were once driven. Now it's a riverside restaurant with a gastro menu but equally with a large selection of well kept ales. It's all very efficient - corporate even - with my half of Three Tuns XXX coming in at a very corporate £1.95, easily the most expensive drink of the day, though decent.
This may be a good place to eat along with a good beer, making for a pleasant outside drinking spot on a summer's day but it's not really a pub-goers drinkery.

I am always a sucker for historic old buildings (this one dating back to 1807) that have now been brought back to rude health as a pub / bar / restaurant and although I don’t always like what Brunning and Price do to their places, I have to give them credit for this one.
Formerly an armoury store and at some point a bakery the large interior with two sizeable seating sections either side of the central bar the smart interior decor has a bit of a drawing room feel to it with chandelier lighting, large bookcases, plenty of framed pictures and a dark wooden floor throughout. It’s clearly more utilised by the locals as a restaurant than a pub and outside of the Pubs Galore crew, everyone else was seated and eating on this particular Friday lunchtime. But in saying that the central bar area still has some tables reserved just for drinking and also there is some external tables by the Riverside which I guess would be a nice spot on better weather days than the one we experienced.
And the reason to just drink here is the eight real ale handpumps the bar supports with a decent selection including local brewery offerings. The eight for our visit were as described below and I also went for the Green Duck Plum Dumb which I totally agree was no Titanic Plum Porter and didn’t really work. But that was the fault of the brewery and not the pub so it didn’t really attract from my enjoyment of this one.
