Probably what should be the cosiest and most pubby of the options in Woodstock - a backstreet boozer away from the main drag and the busy High Street / Market Place / Park Street. This is let down by a limited ale selection (Fuller's London Pride and Black Sheep Bitter, with a Hook Norton clip reversed and a fourth pump unclipped) and some modern flourishes (the bar redone in wood and painted an off-jade colour). There is some exposed stone which gives off a patina of tradition along with a large fireplace against the far left-hand wall. Perhaps I caught it at a bad time (it was dead on my Sunday arvo drop-in) but a little listless on this visit - previous weeknight visits have seen it thriving and welcoming.
