This hotel off the main drag through Woodstock has a small public bar to the right upon entry from its main Park Street entrance. This has some original beams on its ceiling and an open stone fireplace against the far right-hand wall, the remainder of the walls being rendered over in white. There's also a slightly smaller area across the hallway with a handful of tables for drinkers and bar diners (there's a limited menu available). Just the one handpump dispensing something called 'The Bear Hotel: A Light Refreshing Pale Ale', a 3.8% rebadge of something or other (I didn't ask, but it was actually pretty good, and less of an afterthought as I thought it would be). The bar area's tables were all sequestered so I grabbed a copy of the day's Telegraph and sat in the other room. To his credit the barman walked in and gave me a complementary plate of flavoured almonds to go with my cheeky half, so a generous Koma score of '4' for the hospitality at least.
