Modernised but at least has exposed stone all the way round plus sanded beams. As mentioned below, the bar runs the full length of the rear wall. Otherwise fairly dull and inoffensive, at the servery were three pumps with two on - Doom Bar and Adnams Ghost Ship, the latter of which, after an attempted charge for a pint by the tweenage barman (who had to consult with his tweenage companion), was really good (NBSS 4). Beer choice indicates that this is no longer a Charles Wells pub. Service-wise it’s not run effectively but someone is looking after the cellar which helps enormously.

A cosy and attractive Charles Wells house a minute or two from Winston Churchill's final resting place in Bladon. The buildings form an L-shape with the part of the L to the left from the front car park housing the bar, the other housing dining. The bar area is cosy rectangular with a long bar against a right-hand wall. There's lots of exposed stone, ceiling beams and old photos of Oxford and its villages gone by and adverts of former businesses. Three ales on included Bombardier 'Glorious English', Globe Hopper and Eagle IPA. The Globe Hopper was a bargain £1.50 for a half as the barman explained in was a 'guest Ale' and all guests were £2.95 a pint. I can't say I'm a massive CW fan, but I really liked this place, and this worth considering as a wild card if you are looking to visit nearby Woodstock.
