Nice country pub. Low ceilings. Central bar, several nooks and crannies and most tables laid out for dining.
Decent pint of Brakspear Bitter.
Would pop back again.

This is one of Brakspears' many rural classics in this part of the world. It's a smallish sixteenth century building, three rooms, all low beams and open fires, exactly the chocolate box village pub so many of us love, and so many pubcos are intent on destroying. It's very much food oriented nowadays, pubs like this have to be, but there's no in-yer-face gastroness, with plenty of locals just enjoying the now sadly diminished range of top-notch (it's in the GBG) Brakspear's beers.
If you're not fortunate enough to live nearby, it's all of a couple of minutes from the Watlington turn on the M40 and the choice between a refreshment stop here or at the nearby Oxford services is surely a no-brainer: but do watch the time, it does shut in the afternoons.

Friendly village pub noted for food, but still enough drinking room and some good ale. Usefully is less than 2 mins from Junction 6 of the M40.
