Greene King have thrown some money at this one at it's now a higher-end offering compared to its previous Hungry Horse incarnation. Clear evidence of multirooms in previous guises, it's had a tasteful makeover which is predominantly woody with hints of exposed brick. It's semi-divided into bar area to the left and eating to the right. Three GK ales: GK IPA, Abbot Ale and Old 'Spooky' Hen with a fourth pump unclipped. £4.60 for a pint of the IPA served in a handle and topped up without me asking and in decent enough for a much-maligned national beer. Overloud muzak and a locked front door (why?) means they're not quite doing all the right things here, but it's an open (unlike the front door) pub compared to a boarded up one which is was for a couple of years, so I'll drink to the latter.

Greene King Hungry Horse. Two rooms, a bit more character than the usual outlet of this type. Two ales, GK IPA (good though cold) and GK OSH. Footy on TV, pool and meat raffle (Sunday lunch leftovers?).
