A hotel that's more pub, with a functioning bar located to the left of the entrance to 'Swan Walk' which leads to a clutch of shops in what was formerly the hotel courtyard (the entrance to the hotel is opposite the bar entrance on the other side of the Swan Walk entrance). Olde Worlde inside, but tired and with the linger of Bury St Edmunds, exemplified by a three ale line-up of GK IPA, Ruddles Best and something called 'Swan Ale' with a fourth pump unclipped. Locals were seated on the stools around the small bar counter and a flatscreen TV to the bar's left was tuned to the Vintage channel and played muzak to no-one in particular. I'd not seen Ruddles in a pub for a very long time, and to be fair, despite the surrounds, it was in decent form. This place could do a lot better and at the moment, probably only serves as a slightly better alternative to The Nags Head whilst waiting for an order from the nearby excellent Atalay kebab van.
