Just over the rail bridge on the non-town centre side, we tried to enter but were greeted by a queer stench that literally turned us away. No ale that I could see by looking through the window but the bar looked characterful. If they sort out the decomposing badger or whatever it is then I might go in.

An old pub just over the railway bridge to the East of Banbury station and would have been opposite the old Banbury Merton Street station that closed many years ago and the site is now new flats, this pub is decorated with well over 100 darts trophies but has seen busier days but does retain it's traditional multi rooms. No real ale on these days but presumably still has a good local following.

The Elephant and Castle is a back street pub that is away from the middle of Banbury on the east side of the river.
Once inside there were a few different rooms and i had a drink in the room at the front which was fairly basic but comfortable enough.
There were no real ales on here and the keg beers were from the S&N range so i had a drink of Guinness which was fairly nice.
This is very much a locals pub.
