Strongers . left this review about The Exchange (JD Wetherspoon)
The Exchange is a Wetherspoons with carpeted seating by the entrance and raised wooden seating to the right where I ended up sitting with mainly diners because it was very busy during a recent Wednesday early evening visit. Up four steps towards the rear is the bar area where the serving counter up the right-hand wall faces high tables up the centre and booths up the left-hand wall. There are two banks of six hand pumps that were drawing London Pride, Jaipur, Old Peculiar, Pheasantry Brewery’s Dancing Dragonfly, Oakham’s JHB and Adnams Broadside alongside three cask ciders, Weston’s Old Rosie and two from Herefordshire based Celtic Marshes. I went for half a Pride which was past its best and short measured, but it was less than two quid so I made do. I’ll not be rushing back.

The dull internal aesthetic isn't going to win awards but the staff were friendly and the cask (St Austell Anthem) was good (NBSS 3.5). Irritatingly, the app was not updated with current cask offering - the young barmaid redeemed things by being professional, apologetic and tried to explain me the alternatives at my table. Quiet on a Tuesday evening, Banbury is a very sleepy town centre if even a JDW can’t muster-up more than a dozen or so other punters at 9pm. Or maybe it’s because it’s a workaday Spoons that feels like it should aim higher; perhaps it’s time for the refit brigade to make a visit?
December 2011
A grimly sterile two-tier Wetherspoons with one of their catalogue interiors, apparently converted from an old post office/telephone exchange. Eight(!) guests with three of them not actually on, a bit poor for a Saturday. My Goodhands Xmas beer was flat and I couldn’t be motivated to finish it. Pictures of Olde Banbury on walls. A plus is the nice stained glass used as part of the porch area. I would rank this below the other JDW in town. Rated 4

Just a quick pint, then I'm off left this review about The Exchange (JD Wetherspoon)
Traditional-style 'spoons conversion of the former post office and telephone exchange with a slightly split-level interior. Mix of furniture, including some booths along one wall, but a decent amount of local history photographs and displays on the walls. Five festival beers, including the Upside Brown from Exmoor (£2.15), together with the usual trio of Ruddles, Doom Bar and Abbot plus Banks's Amber available from the two banks of six handpumps.
