It has been through many variants since Alan Winfield visited. It became a nightclub then a restaurant in 2023. It appears it shut in January 2026 and became long term closed or closed until someone else leases it, see their Facebook page on 19-1-26.

“After 2.5 years at The Sherwood, we’ve made the incredibly difficult decision not to renew the lease. After carefully weighing every factor….including our work–life balance and what we have lined up moving forward we’ve decided that now is the right time to take a new direction.
This was not a decision taken lightly. We kept up with the trends, adapted in the face of adversity, and worked relentlessly to make this pub a success and it truly has been a success.
However, through changing markets, rising costs, and ongoing uncertainty, it has become clear that the model is no longer fully sustainable. Hospitality particularly for independent pubs is facing an increasingly unstable future.
The reality is unavoidable…...”
