The Hop Pole is situated on the East side of Retford.
Once inside there is a fairly large single T shaped room with the bar facing, the room is bare boarded and the seating normal tables and chairs and tall tables and chairs to the front, there is an outside seating area which backs onto the Chesterfield canal.
There were four real ales on the bar,i had a drink of Pheasantry Pale Ale,which went down well, the other beers were Pheasantry Best Bitter,St Austell Tribute and Black Sheep Bitter.
The pub was very busy with younger drinkers on our Saturday afternoon visit.
Food was being served and background music playing.
I thought this was a decent and lively pub to have a drink in.

It will be nice to see the picture up of the new look! It's good to see the Hop Pole looking the way it should and with a great deal more class than before*, patron from Welham Grove.
