This Wetherspoons is known as the World Renowned Trent Bridge Inn by cricket fans watching leather on willow hosted at the adjacent Trent Bridge Cricket Ground. This is a large pub with a front bar that was in use and a longer rear bar that is “used for table orders”, which means closed during quiet periods. The front bar had three or four hand pumps and the side had ten. With Nottingham Forest’s City Ground also a stone’s throw away there is plenty of standing room to accommodate the hoards of sports fan when required.
A sign on the front bar was advertising the real ale as Nottingham Brewery’s Trent Bridge, Sharp’s Sea Fury, Burton Bridge’s Top Dog Stout and Arkell’s Kingsdown. I had a very nice pint of stout that was cheap as chips, even for a Spoons. The usual suspects of Ruddles, Doom Bar and Abbot were also available, as well as Bottle Kicking Cider Company’s Scrambler. I found the service to be very friendly and the atmosphere was decent even though it was a quiet late Wednesday afternoon. Worth a look.

same old same old, like every other Wetherspoons beer quality lets it down. choice wise this is probably the best selection of beers i have ever seen in a Wetherspoons with five Nottingham brewery beers (Legend, Epa, Trent bridge ale, rock mild and rock bitter) on the bar on my last visit. I had a pint of legend (£2.50) my favourite Nottingham brewery beer and was sadly not impressed, the beer had been kept so cold it was totally destroyed of any flavour. This is a shame as the pub ticks all the other boxes with a vast range of seating, separate rooms for sports, quiet conversation and eating as well as a decent beer garden overlooking the cricket stalls.
This pub would score higher but at the end of the day if the beer is not up to scratch it is going to be hindered. sort out the cellar and this could be a brilliant place to frequent.
Update 2020 * beer quality has improved and along with the roebuck has the ebst beer selection of the Wetherpersons in Nottingham

A decent Spoons right next to the cricket ground and the football ground. We called in for breakfast so it was fairly quiet. I imagine it resembles hell when there is a match on. Good choice of beers including a few local breweries. I would happily call in again.
