Usual Blue Monkey format, 'alehouse in dark blue and white'. Perfunctory barmaid. Ale was pretty good, but I never really take to their outlets - little 'lived-in' feel and often lacking a personality behind the bar. Anyway the GBG listing is correct, I had 2x NBSS 3.5 via the IPA and Choc Stout, so it’s a shoo-in for a visit if you’re up in the Canning Town oasis.

November 2011
This was formerly known as the Red Lion that was purchased, re-furbished and re-opened as the Organ Grinder by the local Blue Monkey Brewery in 2011. Eight different Blue Monkey beers were available on my visit alongside two guests as well as a number of interesting premium keg products and three ‘proper’ ciders. The quality of the two I had was excellent, though the barman was rather stand-offish. The interior is a fairly bland affair with a large bare-boarded floor area by the bar and a couple of drinking zones that lead off it that play host to a few tables and some leather banquette seating; in the left hand area there was a wood-burning stove located in the old fireplace next to a built-in bookcase. Despite the excellent beer I didn’t really warm to this place much (perhaps I was spoiled at the Hand & Heart?). I’d certainly pop back for the Blue Monkey again mind you. Rated 7

A mid-terrace pub with a single room, the decor is sparing with a few bits of Blue Monkey paraphernalia as well as a large Red Lion sign, the pubs former name. The beer is the star of the show here with eight hand pumps, all beers were Blue Monkeys and the Infinity IPA was in very good shape and I could easily have spent longer here on another day.

Old Boots left this review about The Organ Grinder

One of Blue Monkey brewery’s pubs, the clue's in the name, finished in their usual ale house style. It's not changed much in the many years I’ve been coming here. Blue grey lower panels and woodwork, cream plaster, bench seating at wooden and cast iron based tables. A couple of old barrels and bicycle ads complete the fairly minimal decor. Nine pulls, mostly from Blue Monkey of course, two from elsewhere. There are three ciders and 8 kegs mostly prosaic ones.
