The Moon and Stars is a plain square brick building just around the corner from Bullwell bus station and next o the busy main road. I don’t know too much about this place except for it being called the star in years gone by but am unsure what brewery used to run it. you would have presumed Shipstones with a name like that). From what I have heard from a few friends who live around the area it is not the nicest of places and has a rather large following from the local traveler community so I was a shade apprehensive before arriving. Once inside the pub is one large open plan square shaped room with the bar running along the back of the right hand side rear wall. The inside has obviously been refurbished and was more modern that anticipated with tacky hard wooden floors and cheap faux leather plastic bench seating covers. There was very few in ion my visit aside from a few dispatched old men in various corners who were drinking fosters out of a can that was being sold from behind the bar which I found moist unusual. My suspicions were only heightened when I was told that there was no john smiths available (really the two biggest selling products in the pub are both unavailable made me think there was definitely something dodgy going on, possibly a tax doge or the owner ripping off the brewery). So I settled for a Worthington cream flow for £2.70 which was really poor an had a funny taste. The only redeeming feature was the jukebox blasting out some good classic rock tunes. I have been past on a weekend and seen the chavs that frequent here with disco lights and super loud chart music and will be staying well clear. I can now say I have been but I will not be returning in a hurry and advise only people who know and frequent the area to give this place a try.
