A very tacky conversion tackling the gastro pub vibe and failing due to poor food and unprofessional service, basically a glorified pub chain meal from the few times I have been. The pub is extensively refurbished from the maypole days in the new modern tacky style that I hate with no carpets all hard wooden floors that always make these places seem very cold. There is only a small drinking area to the right of the bar for drinkers as the reast of the pub is catered for diners, something that annoys me somewhat.
Beer wise there is a rotating selection of four beers with Harvest Pale always available at a steep £3.50. on my last visit there was also Edinburgh Castle, Directors and Theaksotons Christmas pudding ale. All beers are kept to an average standard, very drinkable but never on top form (something i would expect when shelling out £3.50) with two being sent back over the course of the last three months, showing cellar skills are limited.
Really not my sort of place I only visit with some friends as they go for the Monday club fish and chips special. there are better alternatives around such as the ferry boat or the short stroll over to Trent bridge. Ok at best really.

The Maypole is an ugly looking pub that was probably built in the 60s this used to be an Home Ales tied house ime not sure what beers it has at the moment as i did'nt go in for a drink.
