The Goose fair was a modern pub that was built by Shipstones brewery in the late 70s.
Once inside there was a fairly large lounge where we went in for a drink a couple of times, the lounge was quite smart being carpeted and had comfy bench seating and small stools plus some normal tables and chairs, there may have been a separate bar but we did not see it.
There were two real ales on the bar,the Shipstones Bitter was quite a nice drink here, the other real ale was Shipstones Mild.
The pub had the misfortune having been built close to the Top Valley and Bestwood estates,so it went downhill fast.
There was a very notorious incident which happened outside this pub which lead to its demise.
I quite liked this pub, such a shame that it has now gone for good.
