A small very nice pub with six pumps serving a range of local and national casks and national kegs. There is one larger room with the counter and a smaller snug to the right. The snug is delightful with bench seating wood and cast iron tables, decorated with old photos adverts and prints, the old Shipstones pub sign is also hung in here.

The Falcon is a very long standing former Shipstons pub in Canning Circus that closed for a number of years but reopened around 2012 as a real ale pub and has thrived in its surroundings. One of the smaller pubs on the Canning circus run with one medium sized room with a separate “snug” just off the main room, both have hard wooden floors and open fires in winter. The snug retains the former pub sign with Shipstons branding as homage to the p0nce great brewery which I think is a nice touch. The bar is facing you as you enter and is lined with an array of hand pumps that on my visit featured Oldershaw Heavenly Blonde (£3.30) Dancing Duck Dark Drake (£3.40) Abbeydale Mandarin Claw Of Death (£3. 30) Costal Hop Monster (£3.20) Belvoir Star(£3.30) Oakham Citra (£3.40) and Lily’s Mango Cider (£3.40). The Star was in good nick as was my friends Dark Drake and we enjoyed some pub games in the snug in front of the open fire on a freezing November evening. This is a very old fashioned boozer that is keeping away from the glitzy town pub act and sticks to no nonsense good beer in a minimalist surrounding which I like. It is surprisingly probably the priciest overall of the Canning Circus pubs but not offensively and not compared to some town boozers. Highly recommended and an essential part of the Canning Circus crawl. Along with the new Beerheadz micro pub I regard this to have the best beer quality in Nottingham City but i much prefer the old school boozer atmosphere in here.

Another good solid pub with a good choice of beers. You can't go wrong in this area for me..
