With its drab 60s architecture, The Castle has all the appeal of a night with Ann Widdecombe. The dull brown brick, white panel and glass is only broken by the excitement of a red door - or two. There is a patio area at the back.
I braved the austerity, and was pleased i did. The interior has an L-shaped room the curves around the brick serving bar and food ordering area. The decor is brick, white, some light blue, with carpet, white ceiling and a conservatory area. Bits of ephemera are dotted about - the odd brass thingy for example, and there were comfy prints on the walls. They do food, but we did not eat. I didn't see a TV and the music was general and at a decent level. There is a pool table. The service was really friendly and it had the feel of a local's place - a community pub.
Beer; usual keg stuff with a Chestnut MILD. Castle Rock HPA and Doombar were on handpull - yes, i was in the same day as the previous reviewer, back in September.
It may look as if you can film Prisoner Cell Block H here, but pop in and try it - definitely for a pint at least. I am glad i did.

The Castle is a 60s built pub that is fairly close the the Ice arena, the pub was originally called the Nottingham Castle and it was an Ind Coope tied house with a decent drink of ABC bitter on the bar.
Once inside there is an L shaped room that is carpeted and looks quite smart, there is a pool table to the left and what looks like a small conservatory to the rear right, this had seating in it and people were sat in this strange area.
The rest of the pub had comfortable bench seating.
There were two real ales on the bar i had a drink of Castle Rock Harvest Pale which was a decent drink the other beer was Sharpes Doom Bar.
This is a nice comfortable pub to have a drink in.
