Cafe Barrio was originally called the Bench and Bar,this was the only pub to be built in the Broadmarsh centre development,it stood outside the centre when coming from the upper levels,the pub was unusuall in having three floors for drinking,there was a main lounge at ground floor level and a pool room on one of the upper levels.
This pub was a Mansfield tied house and had a decent drink of keg Mansfield bitter on the bar.
I have been in this pub quite a few times over the years.
When the Bench and Bar closed down Cafe Barrio was created this was a posh looking cafe bar that the trendy types who shopped on bridlesmithgate would go in for a coffee and later a glass of wine.
This has now all come to an end as Caffe Barrio is now boarded up and will probably be converted into retail use.
