A large corner pub in a former mining village, reminding me a little of two I went to in Maltby near Rotherham. This one has more explicit links to the colliery, with the pub sign and a display of photos inside recording its history. I went into the front room - there's a larger back room with a couple of dart boards, and according to WhatPub also a snug. There's no real ale here, and the Dark Mild is missing from the keg line up. The keg version of Old Brewery bitter was pretty good - neither too cold nor too gassy. The few locals present were friendly and welcoming, and no dogs are allowed. Perhaps I should come here more often.
