The Midland was a large pub that was very close to Newark Castle train station.
Once inside the pub had a few different rooms with a decent sized bar and a more comfortable lounge.
The pub was a John Smiths tied house on the few occasions i visited it and only had keg beers on the bar,i had a drink of fizzy John Smiths bitter whenever i went into this pub.
The pub was very handy for a first or last drink before getting a train.
It is a shame that this pub has been converted into private housing.
