A large and high-ceilinged Stonegate pub in the main shopping area with a distinct lack of appeal. A large expanse of floor has a covered pool table to one side and a long sweeping bar behind, with a row of low booths to one side. High level sports screens look down in all directions. A couple of handpumps claimed Doom Bar and Robinsons Dizzy Blonde but neither were on, apparently due to a missed delivery. I generally didn't like the feel of the place but I guess it could be tolerable on a good day.

Like many of the town centre pubs, this is a large barn of a place, with mass-produced food and beer being provided in quantity to the seething masses watching premier league football on giant TV screens. On the bar were three hand pumps, with Bombardier featuring twice and the other being Old Speckled Hen. The barman was struggling to get my half of frothy Bombardier into a glass, so I suggested he stop wasting his time and just give me two glasses of froth and I would sort it out for myself. He, apparently the manager, said that he wasn't in business to give beer away, and carried on with the struggle. That sort of attitude will really bring the customers in - a man who would rather pour beer into the drip tray or down the sink than give someone even 10 millilitres too much.
