Strongers . left this review about The Redgate Inn
The right-hand side of the Redgate Inn was lights out, and from the advertisements I believe that what would have been the old lounge bar now operates as a restaurant. However, there’s no panic because the left-hand public bar is plodding along as strong as ever. The entrance is from the left where it opens into a laminate floored area at the rear of the bar where a dartboard and pool table reside. The three other customers on a recent early Monday evening visit were all in the pool team, so the conversation was mostly about long reaches, screwing balls and tight pockets. At the front is a square open plan area with a red tartan carpet and seating that is faced by the serving counter up the right that supports standard and premium keg alongside three hand pumps, one of which was in use drawing Sharp’s Twin Coast. Televisions throughout were airing Sky Sports and Racing TV while some low background music played, much to the delight of one of the locals who decided to break into song just as I got up to leave with comedy timing that didn’t go unnoticed. I found the service to be polite and the atmosphere was friendly, so I’d use this pub it I lived locally.

Situated amongst housing on the outskirts of Mansfield, I caught the number 6 bus from the town centre here. The pub appeared in the Good Beer Guide as recently as 2022. So, I guessed it was worth the journey out of town. I was proved right.
There was a friendly welcome from the smartly dressed barman and he also had 2 Castle Rock beers to offer me. One was Cosmic Dancer and the other was Forgot Me Notts, a collaboration with Ossett. I chose the Cosmic Dancer, which turned out to be my favourite beer of the day in Mansfield.
Locals were watching an Australian resurgence in the cricket, as the after-work and after-school crowd started to arrive. I found the pub and especially the toilets to be clean and comfortable. It was well worth the trip out of town.

The Redgate looks like an early 60s built estate pub,the pub is a decent walk from the middle of Mansfield.
Once inside the pub had two rooms with a smart comfortable lounge and a decent bar,i had a drink in the bar which was quite busy on my mid Saturday afternoon visit.
When i went in this pub it was a Kimberley tied house and there were no real ales on the bar,i had a drink of keg Kimberley bitter which was a pretty poor drink.
This is a locals pub,i only did this pub because it was one of the few pubs in Mansfield that i had'nt been in.
