Steve Burrell left this review about The Anchor Inn
Friendly, comfortable, pub in the centre of Wooler. Serves a good pint of Black Sheep Bitter, as its real ale. Under new management, who are very friendly and chatty. Good portioned, traditional food served, which appeared very popular at Sunday lunch (saw food but did not sample, not much going back to the kitchen which is usually a good sign),and a specials board. A nice touch was a freeby tray of black pudding / cheese / onions on the table. Family friendly. A good pub which deserves to thrive! Could do with a proper open fire and it would be about sorted!
