Visiting on a sunny summer afternoon, I found the main building shut up with a sign saying 'garden bar open'. Venturing down the alleyway, I discovered this to be a shed in the aforementioned with a couple of keg taps in. Having passed a stack of empties from interesting-looking breweries this was a disappointment but I will give them the benefit of the doubt and not rate it. I hope you have greater luck.

One of several pubs on the Main Street, this one is GBG 2024 listed, the entrance is through an archway to the side. There’s a sitting room at the front and the main bar is further along the yard entered by a side door, the toilets are further down the yard as well although there’s a ladies inside, for outside cludgies they are well appointed. Modern counter with four pulls, a low T-bar and a couple of tall fonts, Poretti on one, and a couple of CMBCo’s best on the other, apart from Thatchers, Guinness and Carlsberg the kegs are from someone called Tempest, (of Galashiels apparently). The two casks that were on were from small breweries, Hadrian Border (as usual) and Born. Modern furnishings although the walls were panelled and decorated with old photos of the area and “humorous” signs. Quite a pleasant place.
