Edge of town local majoring on railway memorabilia. Lots of pictures of engines, station signs, a collection of models and just about anything else you can imagine. It's a Camra heritage site with a bar dating back to the early 20th century but to be honest you need a good eye to appreciate all of that. Friendly and comfortable enough, perhaps a little too scruffy for my taste, nice Oakham Citra.
Railway buffs will be pleased they made the effort.

The Locomotive is situated on th eastern edge of Wellingborough,it takes about a 15 minute walk from the middle of town to get here.
Once inside there is a smallish L shaped lounge to the front, the bar faces, there were normal tables and chairs to the right and two leather settees and posh looking chairs to the left, the room was carpeted, there was a piano opposite the bar,the TV was showing tennis from Wimbledon.
There is a seperate square shaped room to the rear left, there were chairs along one wall and two leather settees, there was also a bar billiards table and Northant's skittles.
There was a decent choice of real ales on the bar,i had a drink of J Church Gold Testament which went down very well, the other beers were Salopian Darwens Origin,Abbeydale Absolution,a beer from Marstons and Doom Bar,there was also some real Cider on the bar.
The front room was fairly busy with locals.
I thought this pub was well worth the walk.

A warm enviting environment, the new owners of the Locomotive are a young, friendly couple with lots of experience (and it shows). They serve the best Sunday Roast I've come across in a long time... and it's excellent value for money. Highly recomm
