The front door opens into the bar area with the counter ahead and seating at tables and chairs to left and right. To the rear is a restaurant area reached by corridors either side of the counter or direct from the rear car park via a separate door. This is finished in pastel shades of grey and furnished with blonde wood tables and chairs, it is decorated with pictures of food and there’s a big glass cupboard of wine. There is also a rear section of B&B accommodation with a garden beyond. Returning to the public bar the counter is home to five pulls, one with cider and four with pretty well known beers, Tribute, Directors, Hooky, and a house badged beer from Banks’s. Floored with carpet and wide boards with dado railed white walls there’s little actual decoration, the ceiling is exposed beams in white and there’s a big modern feature fireplace at one end. Some walls are panelled perhaps from pre-refurbishment days, the woodwork is finished in now standard but previously trendy light grey. Staff are all good, the customers are the usual mix of pub goers and diners from the harmless to the irritating gobshite. Sadly this pub marked my first sighting of bar blockers since March 2020, and all the more detestable due to their welcome absence on the meantime. Best pub in the village for food.

ORIGINAL REVIEW Sept 2010.
Two very distincts areas in this stone built village pub,with a traditional saloon where the bar is situated and a large ,open plan restaurant with its own entrance from the car park.Three handpumps offer a changing selection of ales. On my visit Black Sheep Bitter,Deuchars IPA and the seasonal Mellow Yellow from Caledonian which was fine.The pub food was rather indifferent with some leathery ham in a ploughmans ,although I suppose you get what you pay for and the pricing is cheap.The restaurant was rather bare ,including in custom, and playing commercial pop station output at high volume did nothing to improve the atmosphere.More a pub to visit for a drink than a meal.
UPDATE
After a period of closure the pub has reopened under a new team who have revitalised the operations.The interior layout is unaltered but the tired furniture to the right of the serving bar has been replaced by modern square dining tables and wooden chairs,two sofas and a woodburner chucking out some much needed heat on a cold day.To the left of the entrance is a more traditional drinking area with an impressive banquette around part of the wall,and the exposed beams show the age of the building.The large rear restaurant is still in place along the corridor.
Five handpumps were serving GK Abbott,Thwaites Bitter,Salopian Shropshire Gold(in good nick) and a Medieval Beers brew with a pump unused.A number of pumpclips decorating the bar are evidence of a rotating ale policy and a Beer Festival is occurring in early May.There is a quiz on Tuesdays and Music and Curry nights were also advertised,so a real effort has been made to get a community vibe.
The food offering is now very good and a lunchtime First Day of Spring special dishes at £5 were outstanding quality and value.
A great revival by the new owners,one not to be missed when in Crick and it's only 1 mile from J18 on the M1 and miles better that what's on offer at Watford Gap.Big upgrade from me.

Visited Crick 17th September 2011 this Pub was Temporarily Closed, due to refurbishment and a change of Landlord.
