Attractive looking country pub with a friendly welcome. Had a nice chat with presumably the landlord and her friendly dog. Wainwright, Landlord and Tribute was on offer. I had Landlord and Tribute both at £4.30. Nice pub shame they seem to be struggling and with the Red Lion gone down the road hopefully they can survive.

Pleasant enough ironstone pub and B&B in this big commuter village. Two rooms on different levels, the lower one to the right a restaurant, the other a traditional saloon bar. There's a nice courtyard to the rear.
Its website claims it to be one of the top ten real ale pubs in the country and along with the free house sign outside you might expect a little more than the mundane Marston's selection of Cumberland, Hobgoblin and Wainright. Be that as it may, the Cumberland was in pretty good shape.
The enthusiastic welcome suggests it makes a fine job of serving the community, and is worth calling in if you find yourself in the area.
