An old building in Northamptonshire stone, the entrance is along a path to the side of the impressive array of benches in the pub garden. There are two rooms with the tap room to the left, while right is a lounge where exposed stonework is a feature while it's own servery is largely unused. A reggae disco was setting up in the tap room with associated flashing lights and although the pub was reasonably busy all the available tables had reserved signs on.No indication of who had reserved them nor at what time,so having purchased my ale but not wanting to drink vertically I shifted to the lounge only to find more reserved signs there on free tables.Maybe villagers want to be guarenteed a seat to enjoy reggae but it left me with the feeling that this is a local pub for local people. There was however a warm welcome from behind the bar by the young barmaid.
Three ales on my trip in TT Landlord,Nene Valley I Miss the Conga and Oakham Inferno (decent ,NBSS 3).Maybe I caught it on a bad night ,it's a village boozer after all and had decent real ale so worth popping in.
