This seems to be very much a locals pub. It's a small single room with the bar on the right as you enter and the rear part of the room is completely dominated by a pool table. There is a darts area which on my Friday lunchtime visit was blocked with furniture but does appear to be used. There is a large TV which was on but with the sound turned down.
The bar has three hand pumps which had one unused being pulled through, Wychwood Hogoblin and West Berks Skiff. I went for the Skiff (£3.10) which was in very good nick. I've been to large pubco outlets like this where the beer has been virtually undrinkable so they deserve some credit for that and for being open. The Dun Cow opposite the Spoons had no real ale as it wasn't ready and the Coach and Horses nearby hadn't opened at 13:00 on a Friday.
