Family run independent hotel and if the google reviews are to be believed, a lovely steak pie available.

There is a public bar - a room off to the left as you enter the bulding. Laurel and hardy prints on the walls, small bar and traditional feel.

Thought long and hard about the Theakstons Light Foot - the only cask on. All other punters seemed to be on keg, so wasnt sure of the quality. Nothing to fear - I may have struck lucky and it was fresh on, but perfect condition. As the other pub in the village, the Plough, only has GK IPA, this would have to be my local.

Suntrap garden next to the Esk and a rather local, all white peacock in a cage. They seem to like their peacocks in this part of the world.
