The former hotel bar, but much improved. It has an outdoor area, and is approached by turning right after entering through the main entrance. A straight room on split levels - with food served at the rear (up the steps). Dark green in colour with, unsurprisingly, badger art on the walls, with soft music and no TV. Service was fine considering it was rammed with a more mature clientele. This very grand feeling place now has eight ales, with an excellent Ossett Barghest Stout. A welcome addition to the great pubs of Whitby.

Tired hotel that needs a bit of a tart up to say the least, a typical hotel bar, in the corner of the ground floor but with views over Whitby. No real ale here, standard keg lager and average drinks. The Victorian seating outside the hotel entrance is nice enough
