The Britannia is a stone built pub that is close to the river and also backs onto the bus station.
Once inside here i went in the larger room there were other rooms but i did'nt have a look.this is a Samuel Smiths tied house and i had a drink of the one real ale on which was Old Brewery bitter and this was a very nice drink.
The landlady was very helpfull in giving me directions to a pub that was out of town.
I quite liked this pub and would have happily stayed for a few more drinks.

A detached square Georgian styled Sam Smiths pub and eatery in undressed stone, with patio area
The interior has three rooms. To the left on entry via the main front door is the bar/lounge in a green and cream décor. This is where we sat and the décor looked a little tired. There is an area here given over to pub games, with a pool table and dart board. To the right on entry, is a dining room, in undressed stone. The central serving bar serves both of these rooms. At the rear of the pub was an empty room in red and cream patterned wallpaper, with a fireplace. There are general prints on the walls. I didn’t eat here. The service was fine and the clientele mixed locals and friendly. There was no background music, or a TV that I saw.
Beer; usual Sam Smiths tap stuff, the stout being decent. The untried Old Brewery Bitter was on handpull.
The place was friendly, I will more than happily visit here again.
