Looks like a normal sized pub from the outside, but it goes back a very long way. It was pretty quiet on a Wednesday night and the fact that it's so big made it look empty. A pretty pedestrian selection of cask ales over 6 handpumps, but my pint of White Rat was in decent nick. I didn't think that this was a particularly comfortable place, especially with a couple of "Care In The Community" types in, but Ms CAMRA hated it. I doubt we'll be coming here again.

A deceptively large pub. Its basically in two parts as it stretches a long way back. Though its sort of of one long room it does have two serveries. The front roadside bar is a pleasant place and its here that you will find the cask ale. There are 6 handpumps in two banks of three and though the beer choice is a bit pedestrian for four of the pumps (Pedigree, Bombardier, Hobgob and Black Sheep Bitter) there wereca couple of half decent beers (Ossett Silver King and Treacle Treat by someone I've forgotten). The rear area is larger and seems to be diner friendly and it also leads on to the canal.

Old Boots left this review about Black Horse Hotel
High St pub that's long and thin leading back to a canal side terrace and another much larger bar area. Decorated in a mix of styles mainly traditional with bench seating and flag floors although it also has screens and machines. Two banks of three pulls with beers from Black Sheep, Copper Dragon and a guest from Brains all except the Copper Dragon with "coming soon" labels (this is not a 'Spoons by the way), I tasted and nearly spat it out as it was clearly the end of barrel, an exchange was offered but it took about 20 minutes for a replacement to appear as all the lines needed pulling through. This should have been done before opening.
