My last pub of the day, and I just had time for a half before the hourly train to Doncaster. It was lively here, but as in most of the pubs in Selby in my visit, almost nobody was drinking the very good cask beer, in this case a solitary Ossett White Rat (£3.50/pint). I found a space to sit and was made very welcome by the people around me. A couple had been doing a trip on the Leeds & Liverpool canal, and recommended Skipton to me. Thanks for the reminder! Selby is not a very good real ale town; this pub, with a solitary cask beer on, was about as good as it gets, perhaps just pipped by the Three Swans, and by a narrow margin the cheapest too.

Two room river/canalside pub, the taps are only in the left hand room. Three pulls with beers from Theakstons, Bombardier (reversed) and Brown Cow. One pull is dedicated to a regular who died in 2013. GBG listed and my beer was spot on in spite of being first through the door. Fairly plain decor, sadly an amount of grey woodwork and bluey-grey upholstery, comfy and cosy though. Darts, fruit machine, big screen and big speakers are confined to one end of the bar.

Still almost exactly as previous review - the White Dragon was in especially good form. Very much a locals' pub, tucked away the 'wrong' side of the railway. Cask Marque listed.
