Massively modernised since our last visit several years ago. It's not very pub like nowadays and the remnants of the old watermill have long gone. It's more like a cafe with beer and majors on food with most of the pub being set up for dining along with most of the beer garden. Great views across the North bay though. Three handpumps with 2 beers on. My pint of Wold Top was in good nick although I'm not a fan of the brewery's beers. It's not really worth the long walk out here, but we may call in again at some point.

Looking for a Scarborough Pub that was open in this half life of lock down before May 17th. This came up in an article from a Scarborough Newspaper. As it was on the way home, we decided to chance our arm. No car park, so another £2.20 fed into a meter at the sea life centre. This holiday is costing more in parking in beer :-)
They are open - with a number of tables beachside and a few along the outside of the pub. Two ales on and I had a decent Wolds Top Premium Ale. The food was typical pub food and priced fairly.
Service was excellent with two very friendly waiter/waitresses looking after us with a smile and efficiency. Good work from a touristy sort of place.

A pub in a lovely location that tries to be many things to many people. Perhaps too many.
There's ale available, a decent range of five fairly local ales in good condition. There's food too, a whole half the pub (the best bit too with the views I might add) devoted to it which means the drinkers are often rather squashed in the rest - I was one of those unfortunates.
Good to see the place is dog-friendly, being near the beach, I like well-behaved dogs in pubs although surprised this squares with the food provision (doesn't bother me but I suspect it might others). However, in our squished part of the pub, the dogs added a further obstacle to navigate. It’s near the Sea Life Centre, so an excellent stop-off if nearby as it’s also child-friendly. The interior is a sort of 1930’s mock Tudor effort.
I quite liked the place and it's worth a walk along the sands but something didn't quite work for me in terms of wanting to return in a hurry. Perhaps best sampled on the very quiet days as it is currently a victim of its own success, there being very little else nearby.
