Small hotel with a medium sized bar with a stone fireplace and a larger dining area to the side. The place had a new but rustic look inside with wooden beams throughout, red carpet in the dining area and a wooden floor in the bar area. The place had a welcoming feel, I thought.

GBG 2012 entry. On handpull there was Theakston’s Black Bull (a regular) with Rudgate Viking and Wharefdale Slinger’s Gold as guest ales (although I was told by the barman that they cut it down to one guest in the winter). Nice place that I would happily return to.

A nice pub in a nice town a few miles from pickering.
Been here twice now. Probably more of a food pub but the beers are also very good.
Tidy. The stone and wood floor combines with the pastel shades of the walls and curtains to stamp out its own rustic charm. Very spacious with solid light oak furniture - Chunky minimalism.
Three ales - theakstones black bull, york guzzler and a guest beer called L.B.W. The guzzler was very drinkable.
Staff were polite.

Pleasaent pub with a food offering and accomadation.
Theakstons plus guests (Adnamd and Sharps on my visit) all on hand pull dispensed by friendly staff.

Small courtyard at the rear for outdoor drinking and smoking.

Well worth a visit if venturing into this picture postcard village.
