A friendly locals pub, with staff and customers engaged in conversation and banter. My appearance in cycling clothes excited a certain amount of interest, bordering on incredulity from one woman whose idea of exercise appeared to be limited to walking outside the door for a fag. There are three hand pumps, which are behind the bar rather than on the counter (see photo). My half of Jem's Ten (apparently in celebration of a dog's birthday) from the reliable Great Newsome brewery went down a treat.
