Visited on Sunday 26 June 2011 for lunch. The food was excellent, two of our party were Gluten Free, so no beer but the cider was deliciously fresh! The staff were very helpful and knowledgeable in this regard. They knew the source of their food particularly the beef, which was local grass fed from Dexter cattle. We had rib eye steak that just melted in your mouth! The chips were extremely good too. One of our party, who also has other food intolerances, was catered for very well by the staff and so all in all we had a great time, with fab food and drink. The setting and pub itself were also stunning so all in all a thoroughly recommended pub, especially for anyone who cares about what they are eating.

We stopped off for lunch on the way to the Lakes and sat in the Snug, a cosy little room at the back. The food was good and the women agreed that the Black Sheep was superb, (the men were driving so didnt get to sample it). The atmosphere was good and the staff very friendly.
