Popular two bar village pub that hasn't suffered from modernisation. Basically an L shape internally, the front bar is a traditionally furnished comfortable lounge. A good balance is struck between the needs of drinkers and diners. The part carpeted, part flagged, panelled lounge has a mix of traditional and modern furniture and includes a leather sofa and settles near the counter for drinkers and more traditional tables and chairs. For serious diners there is a separate dining area at one end. Black Sheep bitter on one of the four pulls, a mix of Yorkshire guests on the others, not in bad condition as well. Guy Fawkes lived in the village after his marriage and there are a few related items. Monday night is quiz night. The pub was closed and under threat of permanent closure and conversion to housing until rescued by the Peachey Family in 2013.
