Old Boots left this review about The Woodlands
Closed for a while it is now run by Heineken and has a new grey paint job inside and out to prove it. No structural changes although the suit of armour has gone to the great scrapyard in the sky no doubt. It has an interesting brick bar back and the décor is made up of railway porn, maps and nature prints. Entertainment at one end with pool, darts, screens and machines, eating in the middle and the far end in a conservatory. Four pulls on the counter two with Taylor’s Landlord, Theakstons Best Bitter and Lightfoot on the others, average to good quality, it also has two T-bars of Heinekin products and two solos of Moretti.

Large pub standing on a busy crossroads near the Great Yorkshire Showground. Internally it is an identikit “old-modern” open plan pub with dark wood, odd bits of stained glass, boards by the bar counter and carpet under the many tables. There are a couple of wood burning stoves and a proper fireplace with china dogs and a side bookshelf in one corner, there is a suit of armour in another corner. A mix of round and square tables, each is armed with a menu, and seating is provided on some upholstered benches and a collection of chairs. Some tongue and groove remains below cream walls which are decorated with the ubiquitous old photos. Quite a long bar counter runs almost the length of the pub, the usual kegs from Kronenbourg, and Fosters, Guinness of course, the smooth is John Smiths and the cider is Strongbow. Four handpumps in two sets of two, John Smiths cask and a pretty good Jennings guest. There is an outside patio area with a good view of the traffic waiting at the lights. Pretty much a locals pub but slightly suspicious of strangers.
