Situated in the main square of this pilgrimage town, the Black Lion was last in the Good Beer Guide in 2019. Since then, it has not only scrapped its cask ales, but it has also removed all draught pumps!
On entering and witnessing the blank bar, I assumed I was at the pub's hotel reception. But it was in fact the bar. Despite the lack of draught option, the fridge did have a good selection of bottled ales from various local breweries.
Seating in the bar area at the front was on sofas, whilst there was a dining area beyond, with accommodation up a flight of stairs.
Not quite what I was expecting, but acceptable nonetheless.

Old pub in main square of pilgrimage village, mainly using room by bar to the left, with a larger and seemingly less-used games room to the right. Pretty obviously a shadow of former days and could be much improved. A couple of handpumped ales seemed ok though.
