We weren't expecting to find this pub open. Indeed, when we first arrived here earlier in the day, it was closed. However, there were more signs of life than we had expected. Closer inspection revealed that tables were decorated with flowers inside and there were pumpclips on display on the handpulls. The garden off to the side also contained some fairly new furniture.
We returned later to find the pub open, having opened its doors at 5pm, the weekday opening time. In fact, it was fairly busy, presumably with villagers who don't wish to see their only pub close again. Apparently, the pub re-opened last month and whilst it currently only serves drinks, there are plans afoot to re-instate food service too. The 2 handpulls we had spotted earlier were sporting Eagle IPA & Wolf Granny Wouldn't Like It.
Glad to see a pub re-opening and hopefully this one will survive the current cost of living crisis.

The Mermaid Inn is now under new management and has a new chef. The food is excellent and the pub has real character
