Situated next to the stub of a windmill, this village pub has recently started serving food again and increased opening hours accordingly.

Quite a few people arrived at the same time as us for lunch, proclaiming that it was good to be back. These elderly patrons are clearly loyal fans of the Windmill's food offering.

The Windmill's ale offering is Beeston On The Huh, along with a couple of guests, which were Courage Best & Sharp's Doom Bar. The On The Huh had a pumpclip proudly proclaiming that it was the Gold Champion in the Champion Beer of Britain 2013 competition. But it came out looking more like dishwater than being golden. Looking extremely cloudy, I wasn't sure of the smell, but it tasted ok. It was only once halfway through when a scum was settling on the surface that I decided that it most definitely wasn't right!

The landlady was incredibly apologetic when I pointed it out. But I didn't really want to stick around for a replacement, considering I'd consumed most of it.

Nevertheless, I liked the cosy and friendly nature of the pub itself and would happily give it another go if ever in the area.
